Website

The Prater was once an imperial hunting ground and only accessible for the aristocracy until the Austrian Emperor Josef II donated the area to the Viennese in 1766 as a public leisure center. The "Wurstelprater" (Amusement Park) is the oldest amusement park in the world. The best known attraction is the Wiener Riesenrad, a Ferris wheel, which opened in 1897. The park also features various rides, bumper cars, carousels, roller coasters, shooting galleries, ghost trains, a Madame Tussauds wax museum and much more. Apart from the rides, the park features various famous traditional Viennese restaurants (such as the Schweizerhaus and the Walfisch) and numerous souvenir shops.

. Hours of operation: Daily 24 hours each day, 7 days a week from January to December and accessible free of charge for everyone. Peak season starts on the 15th of March and ends on the 31st of October. Individual attractions may have different opening hours.
