Comments:	Pikes Peak, in 1803, was acquired by the U.S. in the Louisiana Purchase. Pikes Peak can be reached by driving Pikes Peak Highway out of Cascade off of US Highway 24 (fee required), Cog Railway out of Manitou Springs (fee required), or hiking (free). It is also possible to combine the Cog Railway partially up the mountain and then hike the remainder. <p> Summer season hours: 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM. You must pay the entrance fee to the Pikes Peak Highway or Cog Railway to get to the Summit House gift shop..<p> <b>Machine 5</b> is located in the new Pikes Peak Summit House. The machines take credit or debit cards only. 09/12/24: Was only able to located one of the machines (Machine 6) at the top of the mountain. There may have been a second present, but we did not find it (did not look too hard as it was very busy with lots of people). Machine 6 was rolling perfect on pre-loaded zincs.
