In 1877, some of the best-known dinosaurs were first discovered by Arthur Lakes, a professor at the Colorado School of Mines in Golden. These discoveries included Apatosaurus, Stegosaurus (the Colorado State Fossil) and Allosaurus. These specimens represent animals that lived 150 million years ago in the Late Jurassic Period also known as the "Age of Giants".

Dinosaur Ridge Main Visitor Center Complex Hours are:
Summer hours (May 1 to October 31) - Monday through Saturday 9:00 am to 5:00 pm and Sunday 10:00 am to 5:00 pm.
Winter hours (November 1 to April 30) - Monday through Saturday 9:00 am to 4:00 pm and Sunday 10:00 am to 4:00 pm.
Closed New Year's day, Thanksgiving day and Christmas day.
Plenty of free parking.
Machine 2: designs all have 'Dinosaur Ridge Morrison Colorado' on them and cost $0.51 cents each to press. It is located inside the gift shop, down the little hall to the right when you walk in the gift shop entrance. Machine will then be on your left in that right-side section. You do not have to pay admission to access the gift shop
