Cities such as Salzburg, Hallein and Hallstatt, as well as regions like the Salzkammergut owe not only their names, but also their prosperity, to salt. You do not have to take the Salt Mine Tour to get to the machine.
Check the website for hours and days of seasonal operation. When the Salt Mine is closed for the season, the Euro cent machine is put into storage.
Admission cost: €9 per adult and €4.50 per child (age 4 to 15) to take the funicular (lift) ride up and hike down. €16 per adult and €8 per child (age 4 to 15) to take the lift up to the top of the mountain and back down. €30 per adult and €15 per child (age 4 to 15) if you want the lift ride up, the lift ride down and the Salt Mine Tour. The costs per child drop for the round trip lift and tour package with adults or multiple children.
Limited free parking at the bottom of the funicular lift station.
Machine 1 is located just outside the funicular lift at the top of the mountain all have 'Hallstatt Ältestes Salzbergwerk Der Welt' on them and each cost 1€ on a 5 Euro cent.

Machine 2 is at the entrance of the building at the funicular bottom station. It takes 1 euro coin and 5 cents.
This machine also includes one token souvenir for 5€, that can be paid with coins or 5€ note.L
