Website

The Vista House was built in 1917 on one of the most beautiful scenic points on the Historic Columbia River Highway; the summit of Crown Point. Once called “Thor’s Heights,” Crown Point is a basalt promontory shaped by the same volcanic lava flows, floods and winds that created the Columbia River Gorge. Vista House was constructed to provide travelers a place to rest and refresh themselves as they made their way down the Columbia River Gorge. The octagonal building with its green ceramic tile roof houses a museum, gift shop and interpretive display of historic and geologic points of interest in the Gorge.

Hours of operation: Friday through Monday 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Closed on windy or icy days. Limited free parking.

Machine 1 is downstairs in the gift shop right by the entrance to it. Cost to press: pre-loaded with Zinc pennies for $1 each design ($1.00 dollar bill only; no quarters accepted). Designs all have a pennycollector.com beaded border:

8/5/23 - The machine is working well and dispensing mostly excellent condition zinc pennies.
Three silver tokens were available in a tray by the cashier, however there was no Historic Columbia River Highway token at the time.
Two other cased commemorative tokens were available, a silver dollar-sized silver one for $5.99 and a gold, hexagonal one in a rectangular case for $6.99. I can only upload the silver one because I didn't purchase the gold one. Both are Vista House themed.
Do be aware that it can get very humid downstairs, especially during the summer months!
