141 Division St Ste 2 New York City (Manhattan), NY , 10002 Phone: (212) 533-8303 Website Daredevil Tattoo, in Chinatown, opened in 1997 when tattooing was legalized in NYC. We feature several artists working in all different styles of tattooing. Walk ins are always welcome and we are open every day noon until 10pm.
This machine is located in the front of the tattoo parlor, which happens to be a small museum dedicated to the history of tattoos. It is on the left when you walk in and the lovely people behind the counter have a bowl of pennies that you can used to make your pressed penny.
Designs are:
1) 'NYC Daredevil Museum', Head of a devil
2) 'NYC Tattoo Museum', Image of the Statue of Liberty's torch
3) Daredevil business card.
4) 'Tattoo Museum', And web site with Eagle
12/13/23: DOES HAVE PROBLEMS but is still active. The machine is still inside. It had an "out of order" sign next to it, but I asked the man at the feont desk if I could try anyway, and he gave me the first 51 cents for the first try.
I found that, unfortunately, the famous devil face design was the only one that didn't work. You have to be gentle and ROLL THE PENNY SLOWLY. All the other 3 designs did happen to catch, roll and come out fine. I tried the devil face design three times, once the penny did not catch nor come out, and the second and third time the penny was able to catch and you could feel it roll however the penny does not fall completely through the exit tube and gets stuck.
Overall I still recommend visiting this machine just to try it and see some of the tattoo history the place provides! I suggest bringing many quarters and pennies to try, roll the pennies slowly, and unless you want to, unfortunately do not go for the devil face design!
02/09/2024 Machine was out of order.
