The wheels are in motion at the Albany Historic Carousel and Museum, which has finally found a permanent home. After 12 years of carving and painting animals, and raising money, the museum broke ground on its new building on Tuesday, May 24, 2016. The new building features a 1909 restored Dentzel carousel and hand carved animals created from 152,000 recorded hours of volunteer work. As of July 2022, there are 41 animals on the carousel, with plans to add three more before the year is done.

Hours of operation: Wednesday through Sunday 11:00 am to 4:00 pm. Closed Monday and Tuesday. Admission and tours are free.
There are also penny necklaces you can put your pressed pennies into, those are around $8 each.
Limited on-street free parking.

8/10/2024: The Penny machine 1 was across from register with the designs shown. Machine isn’t rolling them all the way. They were maybe 80% smooshed.
Token machine was in the lobby with the carousel.
I didn’t see another machine.
