Cross in the Woods is a Catholic shrine that was declared a national shrine by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops on September 15, 2006. With the largest crucifix in the world (31 feet high for the statue) and it has become one of the most famous and most frequently visited shrines in Michigan. The highlight of the shrine is a large wooden cross and bronze figure of Christ by sculptor Marshall Fredericks. The site also includes outdoor and indoor churches, numerous smaller shrines, and a nun doll museum. The Cross in the Woods is open 365 days a year and the Church built at this location holds Masses every day, year round.

The machine is in the gift shop. Right by the entrance. Designs have the shop name on the back of the pennies and are:
1) Corpus/Crucifix
2) Holy Family
3) Serenity Prayer
4) Guardian Angel

29Jul2021 - RAH - Successful mail off! Super friendly staff and the coins are rolling great!

7/20: Do not turn the machine handle fast - pennies will jam. If you are unfortunate, though, a store employee will be able to open the machine and free them, so speak up if it happens to you!

17March2022-During winter the gift shop is only open Friday to Sunday and I think Monday.
Sometime in April it reopens daily. I stopped by and talked to a lady about it. She was willing to open the back door so I could roll them. They came out a little long but otherwise great.
She said she's been getting a lot of mail-offs for them. If you do stop by or do a mail-off, please think about donating a little extra as a thank you.
