Toledo, Spain The Alcázar of Toledo is a stone fortification, Castle, Located in the highest part of Toledo, Spain. Once used as a Roman palace in the 3rd century, it was restored under Alfonso VI and Alfonso X and renovated in 1535.
The Museum within the castle is a tribute to those that defended the Alcazar in a two month siege during the Spanish Civil War.
Walking about the castle today, it is hard to believe it was almost totally demolished by artillery in 1936. The Museum maintains a collection of war memorabilia including a sword collection and models of the castle, displaying its ruined state.
There is a machine inside the Souvenir shop of the Museum and you will need to buy a ticket it is 18 Euros.
It takes 1 euro and 5 cent euro and they will give you change if you ask |
