The Milwaukee County Zoo houses 1,800 animals and covers an area of 200 acres. The Zoo is proud to have had the first births of Polar Bears and Siamangs in captivity. The Zoo is also home to one of the largest groups of Bonobos in one location outside their native Congo. The Zoo also has two Cheetahs from the National Zoo in Washington, DC.
The gift shops offer free printed maps of the Penny Press locations and the machines are scattered throughout the Zoo.
The Zoo also sells its' own Souvenir Penny Books.
Milwaukee County Zoo Hours:
May through September hours are 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. September through May hours are 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Animal Buildings close 15 minutes prior to Zoo closing time.
