The Museum tells the story of New Zealand, its place in the Pacific and its people. The Museum is a war memorial for the province of Auckland and holds one of New Zealand's top three heritage libraries. It has pre-eminent Maori and Pacific collections, significant natural history resources and major social and military history collections, as well as decorative arts and pictorial collections.
Hours of operation: Open daily from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm, closed Christmas Day. (Open following the Dawn Service on Anzac Day). Free entry for Aucklanders.
Plenty of underground parking free for the first 30 minutes then a fee on a sliding scale after that.

12/08/16: I checked all around the gift shop and with staff and this machine is gone.
11/07/18: I visited this museum but couldn't find the machine and talked to the administrator in the gift shop. She verified that the machine had been removed several months prior to my visit because the machine was making too much noise for the sanctity of the museum. MWHTH |
