Mapleton Road KENT - Westerham, England, TN16 1PS Phone: 01732 868381 Website Chartwell House was the home of Sir Winston Churchill from 1922 through to his death in 1965. It is now maintained by the National Trust.
The machine is located in the National Trust Gift Shop.
This is a 4 die Pennymangle machine. It takes a £1 (one pound) coin and a penny for each coin. The coin designs are:
1) Churchill Portrait.
2) A View of Chartwell House.
3) The Chartwell Swans.
4) A Churchill quotation – ‘A day away from Chartwell is a day wasted’.
11/10/15: With all Pennymangle machines, it is better for the Queen's head to be in conatct with the die - the portcullis could leave a slight witness on the image on new coins. |
