The natural beauty and ancient geology of the legendary Petit Jean Mountain inspired the creation of Arkansas’s first state park and with it our state park system.
A massive stone and log structure, Mather Lodge was built by the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) in the 1930's. Overlooking the Arkansas River Valley below, this historic but modernized lodge offers 24 guest rooms. The pine walls and ceilings give the rooms a rustic appearance and feel, but with modern conveniences. Each room comes equipped with satellite TV, clock radio, iron and ironing board, and coffee pots. No telephones are available in the rooms, however.
