3504 East Avenue G, PO Box 1864 Hutchinson, KS , 67504-1864 Phone: 620) 662-1425 Website Strataca, also known as Kansas Underground Salt Museum, is built within one of the world’s largest deposits of rock salt. It provides the opportunity to go 650 feet beneath the Earth’s surface. It is a unique destination attraction for exploring an amazing environs carved from salt deposits formed 275 million years ago. The museum is located in the Hutchinson Salt Company mine which began operation in 1923 as Carey Salt Company. There are 14 other salt mines in the United States, but none of which are accessible to tourists.
Machine 2 is right inside the door. All have 'Strataca Salt Mine Adventure' on them. Admission not required. Designs are:
1) Safety dog with hat,
2) Batman,
3) Steam engine,
4) Pick, Axe, lighted mine hat.

The machine was installed here in 11/08
11/27/2024: This machine is no longer in the lobby. I did not inquire about its currently location, but I suspect it is in the gift shop, which is underground. Unfortunately, I did not have time for the ride underground during my trip.
