AB 93 North (Icefields Parkway) Alberta - Jasper, Canada, T1L 1J3 Phone: (877) 423-7433 Website The Columbia Icefield is the largest ice field in the Rocky Mountains. Located in the Canadian Rockies astride the Continental Divide along the border of British Columbia and Alberta, Canada, the ice field lies partly in the northwestern tip of Banff National Park and partly in the southern end of Jasper National Park. The waters from the Columbia Icefield flow to three different oceans: the Arctic, the Atlantic and the Pacific. The Columbia Icefield Discovery Centre has a cafeteria and restaurant, a gift shop, interpretive center, and a ticket office for the Ice Explorer Athabasca glacier walk and the Glacier Skywalk.
You must pay the entry fee into Banff National Park if you enter from the south or Jasper National Park if you enter from the north to access these machines.
Hours of operation: Seasonal; check website.
Plenty of free parking.
Both penny machines and a change machine are on the main floor standing side by side by side between the ticket office and the gift shop.
It is illegal to press Canadian coins. The change machine takes one loonie ($1 Canadian coin) and dispenses the loonie back along with a zinc American penny. Bring your own American 95% copper pennies to use if you don't want to use a zinc penny.
