1401 Forest Drive Chillicothe, MO , 64601 Phone: 660-646-1341 Website The Grand River Historical Museum functions as a time capsule using everyday objects and images to tell stories--not exquisite antiques and expensive collections--but rather the bits and pieces collected from the daily lives of the men, women, and families who built our community. With 9,600 square feet of exhibit space, the museum allows visitors to re-connect with the early history of the region. We believe that visitors who are able to reach out and embrace the past will be better wardens of the future.
Our machine is inside the front door, veer left then straight ahead next to the antique telephone booth before you enter room two. Our machine takes two quarters and one penny to press one penny. We have four designs:
1) Home of the Hornets, our town mascot, with an image of a Hornet and the town's name of Chillicothe, Missouri.
2) we have Home of Sliced Bread honoring our town's history as the first place to commercially slice and package sliced bread for sale in the world and it says Chillicothe, Mo as well as a picture of a loaf of bread sliced.
3) Our Grand River Museum logo which also features a slice of bread and Chillicothe, MO.
4) Dedicated to our 1868 Bethel AME Black History Church Museum with a rendering of the building and Chillicothe MO printed on it.
8/09/24: This is a repurposed machine from the Penny Press group in Oklahoma City, OK. Our press used to belong in the town of Jamesport, Missouri but was gifted to us in 2022. After two years we were able to get the new press from the original company out of Oklahoma City, OK and install our new press plates. |
