The machine was removed in the Summer 2009. I have had a whisper that there may be a new machine about to be placed. Possibly similar to the new one at the Hancock museum.
[Retired machine] Single die electric machine, was sited inside the gift shop .
Design: 'Arbeia Roman Fort, South Shields' (around EC border) and 'Live Die' (above and below fist and thumb). The 'thumb up or down' represents the emperor's way of deciding the losers fate after a gladiatorial battle of course.
