10/01/2022: All of the penny machines have been removed and will not be returning. All Cedar Fair parks (including Carowinds) have gone cashless as of the 2022 season.

Carowinds is a 407-acre amusement park, located adjacent to Interstate 77 in Charlotte. Although it has an official North Carolina address, the park is located along the North Carolina-South Carolina state line, with a portion of the park also located in Fort Mill, South Carolina.The park opened on March 31, 1973, at a cost of $70 million.

(This was in the Dale Earnhardt-themed area. It was at the entrance to a small shop across from the race car exhibit.)
