11/07/14 I went to this location today to try and roll a penny but I could not find the machine and when I asked the staff for assistance they tried to send me for the penny from the aquarium. The machine in 1812 seems to have been removed Katie Tyers West Yorkshire
8 miles -13km- SW of Bowness-on-Windermere
The design were:
1) Just has the word 'LAKESIDE' in large letters across the middle with 'Windermere' in smaller letters underneath.
Retired Penny
The boat depicted is the Tern which still runs on regular service, along with the Swan and Teal (one of them is depicted on the other coin done at the machine on the opposite bank at Bowness). This is the same design as the machine at Ambleside Ferry Head.
The owners of the site may be the Aquarium but the machine was the property of Windermere Lake Cruises. |
