N115 County Road N Wisconsin Dells, WI , 53965 Phone: (608) 254-6367 Website The Riverside & Great Northern Railway is a 15-inch gauge railroad and living museum in Wisconsin Dells. The steam train ride travels along a 1.5 mile right-of-way through scenic canyons, woods, and rock cuts beside the Dells of the Wisconsin River. The ride lasts approximately 30 minutes.
The penny press designs are of four of the most famous of the steam locomotives the Sandley Light Railway Equipment Works built while in business from 1948-1983.
The machine is located in the Hyde Park Station waiting room. Designs are:
1) No. 1 "Tom Thumb" is a vertical boiler locomotive,
2) No. 82 is an "American Standard" type 4-4-0 steam locomotive typical of locomotives from the mid-1800s
3) No. 98 is an "American Standard" type 4-4-0 steam locomotive typical of locomotives from the mid-1800s
4) The "Atlantic" 4-4-2 steam locomotive design represents nos. 127, 128, 129 and 1916
5/26/25: Machine in the same spot. Asked nicely (it wasn't too busy) and they let me go get pennies without paying admission. Had a change machine next to it and a jar of pennies to use above the machine :)
