Comments:	This former Enco gas/service station building, with its distinctive, cantilevered, wedge-shaped canopy (referred to as a hyperbolic paraboloid on a historic marker mounted on the building) was built in 1965 and designed by Albert Frey and Robson C. Chambers. It is considered to be a prime example of modernist architecture. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2015. This is now the official visitor center for the City of Palm Springs.<p> There are also penny machines east at Palm Springs Air Museum 5.8 miles away and 19 miles away at the Living Desert Zoo and Gardens in Palm Desert. West 15 miles away there are penny machines at Cabazon Dinosaurs- World’s Biggest Dinosaurs. <p> Hours of operation: Monday through Sunday 10:00 am to 5:00 pm. <br> No admission charge. <br> Plenty of free parking.<p> <b>CAUTION! This PennyCollector machine does not speed roll.</b> When you insert the second round of penny/quarters, the machine will eat your quarters and the unrolled penny will come out the pressed penny slot.<p> <b>Machine 1</b> is behind the information counter towards the right after you enter the main doors.
