Columbia, SC , 29210 Phone: 803-779-8717 Website Admission to the Zoo is $28.00 for an adult!! The Zoo is home to over 3,000 animals, with collections of mammals, birds, reptiles and fish. Recent additions to the Zoo include exhibits for African Elephants, Gorillas and Koalas. The Birdhouse at Riverbanks features a display of King, Rockhopper and Gentoo Penguins.
Riverbanks also has a 70-acre botanical garden with more than 4,200 species of native and exotic plants. A trail system lets visitors explore several kilometers of bottomland and upland mixed hardwood forests in search of the of natiove wildlife that call the Zoo and Garden home.
There is a new penny book called 'Souvenir Crushed Pennies Album'. There is a Koala on the front (not the one from the retired section; it's vertical), the book holds 20 pennies and it costs $6.99. Found in the Gift Shop by Machine 1.
