Founded in 1897, the zoo is located within Como Park, The Como Zoo has no admission so you can get to all three machines for free. Hours of the carousel building are different than the Como Zoo hours, so plan accordingly. Check the zoo web site for hours. Note Como and the Conservatory are open 365 days a year.
The Garden Safari Gift Shop also sells Como Park Zoo & Conservatory Penny Books. They alternate between selling 3 different styles of books. The main gift store also has a few current and discontinued pressed pennies for sale at the usual cost of 51 cents. (no tax on pressed pennies).
Machine 6 all have 'Como Zoo St Paul, MN' on them. In main building. Designs are:

Machine 8: (2011) (Zoo machine 3) is out the main entrance doors to the left as you enter the zoo area. All have 'Como Zoo' on them. Designs are:

2) Gorilla,
3) Lion,
4) Turtle.
Machine 9: (Zoo machine 4) Located at a souvenir hut as you near the Polar Bear exhibit by the aquatic animal exit. 'Como Zoo St Paul, MN' on them. Designs are:
1) Polar Bear,
2) Polar Bear head,
3) Penguin,
4) Seal
Token machine 1: is located just inside the main entrance near the main gift store. The cost is $5 each or 3 for $10. or 4 for $15. 4 styles of golden colored Tokens:
1) Polar Bear,
2) Gorilla,
3) Giraffe,
4) Sparky (Sea Lion).
These Tokens can sometimes also be bought in the gift store.

8/31/24: The machine itself is located outdoors by the souvenir shop & being out in the elements have taken their toll on the machine. It still rolls well, though pushing the coins in sticks a little. The clear acrylic showing the mechanism is very cloudy now & it's a little difficult seeing which design your rolling, though it's easy enough to figure out once you press the first one. |
