It connects Skagit Bay, part of Puget Sound, with the Strait of Juan de Fuca. A pair of bridges known collectively as Deception Pass Bridge cross Deception Pass. The bridges were added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1982. Deception Pass is the most photographed attraction in Washington State. Learn about Deception Pass, the Bridge and surrounding area aboard the “Island Whaler”. Take a unique ride on a seated open deck boat and enjoy a 360° unobstructed view as you pass through the waters of Deception Pass on a one-hour tour or enjoy the thrill of the fast jet boat through Deception Pass with a knowledgeable interpreter. Seasonal whale watching tours are also available.
Hours of operation: 10:00 am to 6:00 pm Thursday through Monday. Closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Store may only be open from April 1st to October 1st each year. Call ahead to verify.
Very limited (maybe 3) free parking spaces.
The penny machine is located inside in the lobby. Cost to press: $1.00 each design. There is a pot of pennies available for use. The penny machine is odd in that there is not a handle for turning only a knob on the end of the lever. Designs are:

2. (H) A star at the location of Anacortes in the outline of the State of Washington with 'Deception Pass Washington'.
3. (H) Fighter jet, transport plane and helicopter flying around Deception Pass bridge with 'Naval Air Station Whidbey Island'.
4. (H) Tour boat under Deception Pass bridge with 'Deception Pass Tours'.
