Praça 8 de Maio Coimbra, Portugal, 3001-801 Phone: +351 239 822 941 Website Built from 1131 onwards, the Santa Cruz Monastery started its community life during the next year, although the construction lasted for almost another century. The main chapel was finished around 1150 and the solemn dedicated church only in 1228. The church became increasingly important, which lead to several changes in its structure throughout History. Nowadays there’s little left from its original Romanesque structure.
Hours of operation: Monday through Saturday 09.30 (9:30 am) to17.00 (5:00 pm), Sunday 13.00 (1:00 pm) to 17.30 (5:30 pm), Holidays 09.30 (9:30 am) to 17.00 (5:00 pm). No visits are allowed during Mass. No public parking within the 8 de Maio Square.
Admission: Free admission.
Machine 1 is inside the Santa Cruz Monastery Store. Access is through the Igreja de Santa Cruz (Santa Cruz Church) straight back and turn right at the altar or Praça 8 de Maio (left side of the Coimbra City Hall). Cost to press: €1.05 each design (€1 coin and a 5 Euro cent coin). Designs all have a beaded border:
