It serves the community as a venue for concerts, sports events, exhibits and other community events. Each year, the Corn Palace is celebrated with a citywide festival, the Corn Palace Festival. Other popular annual events include the Corn Palace Stampede Rodeo in July and the Corn Palace Polka Festival in September. It is also home to the Dakota Wesleyan University Tigers and the Mitchell High School Kernels basketball teams.
Hours of operation: November 1 through April 30 Monday through Saturday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, May 1 through Memorial Day Monday through Sunday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Memorial Day through Labor Day Monday through Sunday 8:00 am to 9:00 pm, Labor Day through October 31 Monday through Sunday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Closed New Year's Day, Martin Luther King Day, President's Day, Easter Day, Native American Day (Columbus Day), Veteran's Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day. The South Dakota penny book is for sale for $8.99 (No squashed penny on cover). Plenty of free parking.

7/14/18: Both machines 4 & 5 are still at the main entrance to corn palace.
I found machine 7 down on the floor of the exhibition hall where they have a gift shop set up till events start in August.
I asked where machine 7 in the exhibit hall gift shop goes when events start, and she said it's supposed to come over the street to her gift shop. If you can't find it after August, corn palace may put it away rather than move it across the street.
Machine 3 was across the street in the official gift shop.
