701 Maritime Drive - P.O. Box 708 Ludington, MI , 49431 Phone: 800-841-4243 Website SS Badger is a passenger and vehicle ferry that has been in service on Lake Michigan since 1953. Currently, the ship shuttles between Ludington, Michigan, and Manitowoc, Wisconsin, a distance of 62 miles, connecting U.S. Highway 10 between those two cities. It is the last coal-fired passenger vessel operating on the Great Lakes, and was designated a National Historic Landmark on January 20, 2016.

9/1/2023 - Due to a major equipment malfunction, the ship is unavailable for the remainder of 2023. jnm
3/18/2024 update: The ship plans to begin sailing in June 2024 - and maybe earlier if dock repairs are complete. The equipment malfunction affected the Ludington dock, not the ship itself, so the penny press should become available again. Watch their official website for additional updates to sailing dates. jnm
