near Regensburg Donaustauf (Danube Run), Germany The Walhalla is a temple in the Doric style on the Danube about five miles (10 km) from Regensburg, designed by Leo von Klenze. The foundation stone was laid by Ludwig I of Bavaria in 1830 and it was finally opened in 1842.
