Alameda Antonio Brennand, s/n Varzea, Recife, Brazil, 50791-904 The Ricardo Brennand Institute (IRB) is a cultural institution Brazilian in the city of Recife, in the district of Várzea. Founded in 2002, the institute is housed in an architectural complex in medieval style, with three buildings: Castle Museum St. John, Art Gallery, Gallery and the Chapel of Our Lady of Grace, surrounded by a large park.
It has a permanent collection of historic and artistic objects from various sources, covering the period from the late Middle Ages to the twenty-first century, with strong emphasis on historical and documentation related to the colonial period and the Dutch Brazil, including the largest collection the world of paintings Frans Post, with twenty works.
The institute also houses one of the largest collections of knives in the world with more than 3000 pieces, mostly from the Europe and Asia, produced between centuries XIV and XXI. The institute's library has more than 60 thousand volumes, dating from the sixteenth century onwards, especially the collections of Brasiliana and rare works.
All have 'Instituto Ricardo Brennand' on them. Designs are:
