74 King Street St. Augustine, FL , 32084-4342 Phone: (904) 829-6481 Website The college is named for Henry Morrison Flagler, a Gilded Age industrialist, railroad pioneer, and entrepreneur who partnered with John D. Rockefeller to found the Standard Oil Company. In 1888, Flagler built the Hotel Ponce de León, it being the first major poured-in-place concrete building in the United States. The Edison Electric Company powered the building with steam heat and 4,000 electric lights, making the Ponce one of the nation’s first electrified buildings. Louis Comfort Tiffany is credited with the building’s interior design, including the stained glass and mosaics. The Hotel closed in 1967 and became the Flagler College in 1968. Flagler College celebrates almost 60 years of providing a rich, comprehensive liberal arts education in a small, supportive environment. Its heritage, however, extends back more than 130 years.

2/24/25: Machine had a broken sign on it but I tried it anyway. Out came 7 miss-rolled coins and 1 good one. I thought it was my coin. Wrong, I put in 3 more coins for the different designs and none came out. The chute is black so you couldn't see if the coins were backed up until my last one peeked over the top of the chute. Oh well. I did get 1 good one, I think it's a zinc though. Machine is still in the college rotunda. JLT |
