The California State Capitol Museum comprises a museum that is in and on the grounds around the California State Capitol in Sacramento. The Capitol building has been the home of the California State Legislature since 1869. The building underwent a major renovation, known as the California State Capitol Restoration, from 1975 until 1982 to restore the Capitol to its former beauty and to retrofit the structure for earthquake safety. Although not generally considered earthquake country, Sacramento was hit by two earthquakes within days of each other in 1892 which damaged the Capitol. The State Capitol Museum has been a property in the California State Park system since 1982.

Hours are: Weekdays 8 am - 5 pm, Weekends 9 am - 5 pm, Admission is free, Tours available hourly 9 am - 4 pm.

The machine is in the main hallway just outside the Gift Shop on the bottom floor of the Capitol building. Designs are:
1) 'Eureka, California, State Capitol Museum', Roman Goddess Minerva with spear and Cal Republic Bear facing left, Mountains and Gold Miner behind,
2) 'California State Capitol Sacramento', California State Bear Flag,
3) 'Apollo 14 Moon Tree, Capitol Park Sacramento', Tree right of Moon,
4) 'California State Capitol Museum Sacramento, CA', Museum Logo

10/15: A 4 design Pennyman machine was added here.

01/29/2024 Machine is outside the gift shop in the Basement level of the Capitol. There are lots of signs, it's easy to find once you get inside. Machine is hand crank, cost per penny is 51 cents, provide your own penny. Watch which side of the penny you are pressing on, the Lincoln Memorial shows heavily in some of the designs (the flag design especially). Otherwise, it is pressing well on copper cents. I did not attempt a speedroll with this machine. BTF
