The Audubon Zoo is part of the Audubon Nature Institute which also manages the Aquarium of the Americas. The zoo covers 58 acres and is home to 2,000 animals. It is located in a section of Audubon Park in Uptown New Orleans, on the Mississippi River side of Magazine Street. The zoo and park are named in honor of artist and naturalist John James Audubon who lived in New Orleans. Some of the exhibits include Gorillas, Orangutans, and the Louisiana swamp exhibit. It is also home to one rare White Tiger and two rare White Alligators with blue eyes.

Hours of operation: Tuesday through Sunday 10:00 am to 5:00 pm. Summer: Monday through Sunday 10:00 am to 5:00 pm. Closed Mardi Gras day Thanksgiving, and Christmas Day.
The Audubon Market place had Audubon penny books with exclusive penny on the cover for $5.99 + tax. Plenty of free parking.

If you are going to do the pennies at the Zoo and the Aquarium on the same day, recommend getting the combo ticket to visit the aquarium and zoo, plus a round-trip bus ride (20 minutes each way). Park at the Zoo since parking is free there.

Machine 5 Cost to press: 51¢ each design. Located outside the gift shop right inside the entrance. Designs all have 'Audubon Butterfly Insectarium' on them:

2) (H) Dragonfly on a leaf and another in the background with 'Dragonfly'.
3) (H) Cockroach with 'Madagascar Hissing Cockroach'.
4) (H) Ladybug with 'Ladybug'.
