It contains over 25,000 fish, and was for some time the largest indoor Aquarium in the world with 5,000,000 US gallons of water. It was the first inland Aquarium with a permanent saltwater fish collection. It is surrounded by Museum Campus Chicago, which it shares with the Adler Planetarium and the Field Museum of Natural History. It has 2 million annual visitors. It contains 1,500 species including fish, marine mammals, birds, snakes, amphibians, and insects. It received awards for best exhibit from the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) for Seahorse Symphony in 1999, Amazon Rising in 2001, and Wild Reef in 2004.
You must pay admission to reach all of the machines except number 6..
There are three 4-die machines and two 8-die machine here for a total of 28 elongated pennies. They increased the price to $1.00 per design. All are preloaded with Zinc pennies.
Machines 6, 7, and 8 accepts cash (dollar bills) only and must be manually cranked. Each penny design cost $1.
Machines 8 & 9 accepts cash or credit card and automatically elongate pennies. Each penny design cost $1 or 8-designs for $5.
Machines 7, 8 , 9 & 10 are located on 1st main level behind main tank.
