The Weald and Downland Open Air Museum:over 45 historic houses and agricultural buildings dating from the 13th century to victorian times, rescued from destruction and rebuilt in a magnificent parkland setting. Designated as a collection of national significance the Museum provides a range of education facilities related to medieval history, historic building conservation and countryside skills.
The buildings at the Museum were all threatened with destruction but were carefully dismantled, conserved and rebuilt in their original form at the Museum. These buildings help the Museum bring to life the homes, farmsteads and rural industries of the last seven hundred years. Many buildings situated there are over four hundred years old, and still stand strong.
