6/16/23 NO longer a machine at this location. 4/6/23 Still no machines. DWT

12/18/21: Via email this week, the gift employee said the renovations are complete but they don't have any penny machines there. I don't know if they meant the gift shop or Willis Tower doesn't have any penny machines. We were in Chicago today but couldn't make it to the Tower to check it out with the traffic. Since the machines were in the arcade before, they still be there. Hopefully somebody can get in to verify if the machines are gone or not. JLT

3/10/22: Gone

Willis Tower (formerly named and still commonly referred to as the Sears Tower) is a 108-story, 1,451-foot skyscraper. At the time of its completion in 1973, it was the tallest building in the world, surpassing the World Trade Center towers in New York, and it held this rank for nearly 25 years. It is the second-tallest building in the United States and the eighth-tallest freestanding structure in the world. It is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Chicago, and over one million people visit its observation deck each year. Named the Sears Tower throughout its history, in 2009 the Willis Group obtained the right to rename it as part of their lease on a portion of its offices. On July 16, 2009, it was officially renamed the Willis Tower.

To clarify, these machines are in the arcade in the sub-basement with the entrance to the Sky Deck attraction. Go to the Sky Deck entrance and ask to visit the gift shop. They will have you go through security and then escort you through the exit to reach gift shop area without having to pay an admission charge.
The arcade is between two gift shops. They also have change machines (although only one machine takes quarters), a medallion machine, and two Mold-A-Rama machines.
