Sheremetyevo International Airport is the largest Russian airport with regular international traffic.
In 2005, the airport went through largescale construction and modernization of the infrastructure. As a result, the passenger terminals increased from two to six, and an annual capacity from 12 to 35 million passengers. Sheremetyevo International Airport has become the largest airport in the country (an area of about 480 sq. m.). In 2009 they completed the modernization of Terminal F (formerly Sheremetyevo-2). In autumn 2009 they commissioned Terminal D (area of 172 sq. m., Is designed to handle 12 million passengers per year). In the spring of 2010 they completed International Terminal E with a total area of 76 thousand square meters with a capacity of more than 7 million passengers a year. Terminal E has world class quality services for it's passengers and the airlines. The new terminal combines the terminals D, F, and the railway station "Aeroexpress" into a single South Terminal Complex (STC includes terminals D, E, F and Aeroexpress). The terminals are connected by a pedestrian walkway travelators, allowing passengers comfortably and move freely around the complex.
