Comments:	The Catalina Casino was built in 1928 and opened in May 1929. Casino is Italian for assembly or gathering place. There is no gambling in this casino. Santa Catalina island can only be reached by airplane, boat or helicopter. Regularly scheduled ferry boat service is available from San Pedro, Long Beach, Newport Beach and Dana Point and takes about an hour. Helicopter service, which takes only 15 minutes, is available from San Pedro and Long Beach. Catalina by the Sea has Catalina's largest selection of gifts and souvenirs.<p> Hours of operation: Daily. Monday through Thursday 8:30 am to 7:00 pm, Friday through Sunday 8:30 am to 8:00 pm. <br><strike>Catalina penny books for sale here for $5.99 plus tax.
