Mercer Cavern is located just outside the small town Murphys in the California Mother Lode (Gold Country!) in the Sierra Nevada foothills off historic California Highway '49'. The caverns have a large number of structures called stalactites, and stalagmites.
The Cavern is open for guided tours during good weather. The cavern is near the Sierra Nevada foothills town of Angels Camp.
