Children's Fairyland is a 10-acre storybook theme park for young children in the heart of downtown Oakland, right next to Lake Merritt. Walt Disney himself visited Fairyland in 1954 and incorporated ideas he saw there to build his "magic kingdom" in 1955. Please note: No adult admitted to Fairyland without a child, no child without an adult. To get this pressed penny, you'll need to bring along a small child or wait until the park hosts one of its special grownups-only events. Closed on Monday and Tuesday, except in the summertime when it's open seven days a week.
