970 US Hwy 211 West Luray, VA , 22835 Phone: 540-743-6551 Website Luray Caverns, originally called Luray Cave, is a large, celebrated commercial cave just west of Luray, Virginia, USA, which has drawn many visitors since its discovery in 1878. The underground cavern system is generously adorned with Speleothems (columns, mudflows, Stalactites, Stalagmites, flowstone, mirrored pools, etc.). The caverns are perhaps best known for the Great Stalacpipe Organ, a lithophone made from solenoid fired strikers that tap stalactites of various sizes to produce tones similar to those of xylophones, tuning forks, or bells.
Luray Caverns include the garden maze, toy museum, car and carriage caravan museum, the Luray Valley Museum, and of course the cavern. Admission to the caverns includes two admissions to any two museums (maze separate).
Visitors may want to purchase their tickets online in advance to avoid lines; savings are available when purchasing tickets online as well.
