Comments:	The Seattle Aquarium is the ninth largest aquarium in the U.S. by attendance and among the top five paid visitor attractions in the Puget Sound region. The aquarium was opened in 1977. In 2007, the Aquarium opened a major expansion that added 18,000 square feet of space to the facility, including an impressive 120,000-gallon exhibit, a gift shop, café, meeting/event space and more. Currently, the Aquarium’s animal collection is housed within six major exhibits: Window on Washington Waters, Life on the Edge, Pacific Coral Reef, Birds & Shores, the Underwater Dome and Marine Mammals.<p> Hours of operation: daily 9:30 am to 5:00 pm. The front desk at the ticket counter let me leave my drivers license with them and I was able to go get the pennies. Just drop by the front desk on your way out to retrieve your license. A Penny Passport penny book is available for sale in the gift shop for $6.92 plus tax.<br> No on-site parking. The best parking ($3.00 per hour) is the Hillclimb Parking Garage, 1422 Alaskan Way, across the street from the Seattle Aquarium. If you park here you can easily walk to all Pier 54 through Pier 59 penny machines.<p> <b>Machine 5</b> is at the end of the second building before you go down the stairs to the gift shop.
