81 Hoover Dam Access Road Boulder City (At Hoover Dam), NV , 89005-0000 Phone: (702) 294-4001 Website Hoover Dam is a concrete arch-gravity dam in the Black Canyon of the Colorado River, on the border between the U.S. states of Nevada and Arizona. It was constructed between 1931 and 1936 during the Great Depression and was dedicated on September 30, 1935, by President Franklin D. Roosevelt. Its construction was the result of a massive effort involving thousands of workers, and cost over 100 lives. It was referred to as the Hoover Dam after President Herbert Hoover in bills passed by Congress during its construction; it was renamed the Boulder Dam by the Roosevelt administration. The Hoover Dam name was restored by Congress in 1947. The High Scaler gift shop is located in front of the 459 space multi-story parking garage.
Hours of operation: Monday through Sunday 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
The store has a name change. It's now called the Hoover Dam Mercantile (Was Hoover Dam High Scaler Gift Shop) and is located directly adjacent to the Hoover Dam Cafe.
The multi-story parking garage charges a $10.00 fee. The next closest parking lot, area 9, is after you cross over the dam and you've entered the Arizona side and requires a $10.00 fee, both of these parking lots are cash only. Area 9 is free for handicapped parking. Oversized vehicles, recreational vehicles, and vehicles with trailers must park on the Arizona side of the dam. The other 5 parking areas (labeled 10, 11, 12, 13, and 14) further up the canyon on the Arizona side have no fees but require a 10 minute+ walk across the dam to access the Visitor Center, the High Scaler Café and the High Scaler Gift shop on the Nevada side.
